Six Foot Track is one of my must do races of the year, the race itself has been running since 1984 and my history with it started in the early 90’s when we’d make the yearly trek to Jenolan Caves for dad to run Six Foot Track while we spent the day exploring caves.

The race itself is 45kms from The Explorers Tree at Katoomba

There's something especially hard about a 10km race. Unlike other events where I get to catch my breath by having to hike up a mountain or getting a long downhill that I can just let loose on and use to recover, for me a 10km race is a constant grind where I feel like I never get to catch my breath and my heart rate is going through the roof.

I heard about the Carcoar Cup on the Coolrunning forums from some of the Western Sydney Marathon runners who were heading out there to race it and it seemed like a great excuse for a weekend of running and camping. Carcoar is a tiny little town about 30 minutes outside of Orange that appears to exist in the century before last, there's not a

I'd been pretty nervous in the days leading up to this race, not only was it my first ultra, but also a local race put on by Terrigal Trotters who I run with. The start line at Teralba was a well organised affair with the check-in, weigh-in, and pre-race briefing all running smoothly. I caught up with dad (who was volunteering at various points

Six Foot Track is a grueling 45km trail marathon from the Explorer’s Tree, Katoomba to Caves House, Jenolan Caves.  Runners have just 7 hours to complete what is normally a 3 day hike.  This was my second year doing the race and this year I was up at the front of the pack in wave 1.  For the past year, since I’d last run

This past weekend I had the pleasure and pain of running in Australia’s inaugural Spartan Ultra Beast. The race was held at Picton about an hour South of Sydney, and was in the same location as the Sprint earlier in the year. The race was run as two laps of the Beast course so 42km’s (26 miles) in total.

I’d been training for the Spartan World Championship for the past few months with running, sprint work, boot camp, gym training, obstacle training, lots of hill work and swimming. This was mostly done in the early hours of the morning before commuting to Sydney

Tough Bloke was the very first obstacle race I did back in 2011. High Tide the bootcamp I train with had organised a group to head down for the day so I’d driven down with Lesley and run around the course in the 10am wave (just after the elite runners). I’d found the course easy apart

I flew down to Melbourne the afternoon before the race and checked into the YHA before heading out to Docklands to scope out where the race would be taking place. The start line was being setup and all the volunteers were very busy. I followed the course around the waterfront,
